Show Fountain, Fountain of Wealth, Singapore

Through a sensitive renovation that preserved the cultural symbolism of the original design, Oase transformed Singapore's iconic Fountain of Wealth into a dynamic multimedia attraction while retaining its status as the heart of Suntec City.

The challenge

Since its completion in 1995, the Fountain of Wealth has been one of Singapore's most recognisable attractions. Located at the centre of Suntec City, the fountain was recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest fountain and has become a symbol of prosperity, harmony and unity.

When plans were made to modernise the attraction, the challenge extended far beyond a technical upgrade. The fountain's cultural significance, Feng Shui principles and symbolic role within the development all needed to be preserved while creating a more engaging experience for visitors.

The objective was to enhance the attraction without losing the identity that had made it famous.

Respecting the past while creating something new

Rather than replacing the existing installation, Oase developed a renovation strategy that maximised the value of the original infrastructure.

Existing tanks, pumps and pipework were retained and integrated into a completely refreshed fountain concept. New water effects, choreographed shows and advanced pump technology were introduced to create a more dynamic experience while preserving the iconic bronze ring structure that defines the Fountain of Wealth.

Particular attention was given to the cultural significance of the site. New fountain elements were carefully designed around Feng Shui principles, including the use of 68 jumping jets and 68 vertical jets, numbers associated with prosperity and good fortune.

Delivering the project

Working within an existing world-famous structure required a different approach to a traditional fountain project.

The design team carefully assessed which elements could be preserved and where technology upgrades would deliver the greatest impact. Through intelligent engineering and the introduction of Varionaut pump technology, the fountain gained an entirely new level of performance without requiring a complete rebuild.

New choreographies incorporating water, light and movement were developed to strengthen the visitor experience while reinforcing the symbolism and harmony that sit at the heart of the fountain's design philosophy.

The results

A new experience for a familiar landmark

Today, visitors can experience the Fountain of Wealth in entirely new ways.

Outside show hours, guests can enter the centre of the fountain and participate in the long-standing tradition of walking around the central ring for good fortune. During show performances, the space transforms into a fully immersive spectacle combining water, light and music.

The renovation successfully preserved the cultural significance of the attraction while dramatically increasing its entertainment value.

The centerpiece of Suntec City

The Fountain of Wealth remains one of Singapore's most visited attractions and continues to serve as the focal point of Suntec City.

Visible from restaurants, public spaces and surrounding walkways, the fountain creates a destination within the wider development. The enhanced show capabilities have helped ensure its continued relevance while strengthening its position as the symbolic heart of the Marina Centre district.
