The heart of a filter is its filter sponges – filter cartridge set for the FiltoMatic CWS 7000. Purple filter sponges are included twice in the set and have coarse filtration properties, as they develop their full function even at a high water flow rate. This means that larger dirt particles get caught directly in the sponge during the flow and are thus removed from the pond water. The red filter sponge, on the other hand, has fine filtration properties in which small dirt particles remain trapped in the sponge at a medium flow speed. In addition, microorganisms in the sponges ensure that toxins produced in the pond are converted into harmless substances (nitrification and denitrification).
